Welcome to this week's edition of "Hot Shots," a USOpen.org-curated look at what you may have missed on social media over the past week. US Open runner-up Casper Ruud was cheered on by a famous face this week in Seoul.
Ice tea and a game of ... tennis? This crossover was dynamite. US Open runner-up and world No. 2 Casper Ruud made his debut at the Eugene Korea Open Tennis Championships in Seoul on Thursday in front of a very famous face: Kim Seok-jin, known as "Jin" by legions of fans, of the K-pop super-group BTS.
The Norwegian was a three-set winner over Nicolas Jarry in his first match of the South Korean capital, and Jin took in all the sights and sounds of the world No. 2's victory by taking photos himself.
It wasn't the first time that Ruud showcased his talents to a famous pop star this year: Country music icon Shania Twain was on hand for the celebrations when he won the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad in Gstaad, Switzerland in July.
Alcaraz named to TIME 100 Next
US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz can boast another feather in his cap this September: The 19-year-old Spaniard was one of five athletes named as TIME 100 Next by the American magazine TIME.
As a companion to the famed TIME 100, this list recognizes rising stars in various professions and industries around the world.
With his run to the US Open title this summer, Alcaraz became the youngest world No. 1 in the history of the ATP rankings. He also became the first teenager in the Open Era to top the men's rankings and the youngest men's US Open champion since Pete Sampras in 1990
Kontaveit plays tour guide at home in Tallinn
Estonia's top player Anett Kontaveit was the star attraction this week at the inaugural WTA event in the nation's capital of Tallinn.
Earlier in the week, though, the top seed helped play tourist in her home city: She and TV presenter Keili Sükijainen had a fun day on the town with New Zealander Erin Routliffe, who was Kontaveit's doubles partner at the event.
Tiafoe meets Stephen Curry in Japan
Ahead of the start of next week's ATP event in Tokyo, Frances Tiafoe got to ball out: The US Open semifinalist took in some of the action from the NBA Japan Games, where the Golden State Warriors faced his hometown Washington Wizards in two preseason games.
Tiafoe, Naomi Osaka and Alex de Minaur were among those in attendance, and Tiafoe got a chance to meet Warriors' superstar Stephen Curry.
It's the latest in a long line of recent NBA connections for Tiafoe: During his run to the US Open semifinals, Bradley Beal was spotted in his player box, while LeBron James cheered him on from afar and tuned in on social media.
When in ... Parma: Sakkari, Stephens explore Italy
As two of the biggest names competing at the Parma Ladies Open in Parma, Italy this week, top seed Maria Sakkari and 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens got the opportunity to explore a city that's known for its architecture, music, art, prosciutto, cheese and surrounding countryside.
They explored several of the city's landmarks with the help of a tour guide, including the Teatro Regio di Parma opera house and the Parma Cathedral.
