In Sunday's historic men's singles final, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud to claim the 2022 US Open title and the world No. 1 ranking. The third-seeded Spaniard won his first Grand Slam trophy in his first major final with a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-3 victory after three hours, 20 minutes of high-level tennis in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
