Serena Williams and Venus Williams will return to the Grand Slam stage at Wimbledon, where they will pair up in the 2026 women's doubles tournament. Six-time doubles champions at the event, the sisters on Tuesday received a wild card into the London major.
The Williams sisters last competed together at the 2022 US Open in what was Serena's farewell tournament before she "evolved away" from tennis. But the 44-year-old has started a "new chapter" in the sport this summer, starting with her appearance at The Queen's Club in London last week.
Serena teamed with Canada's Victoria Mboko at the WTA 500 event, but their run was cut short after an opening win when Mboko suffered a knee injury in singles action.
While that was Serena's first time teaming with the 19-year-old Canadian, she has been playing with her sister since the pair first started playing tennis as kids in Compton, Calif. The legendary duo racked up 14 Grand Slam women's doubles titles together, including the Career Grand Slam in the discipline.
They have won Wimbledon six times as a team, including in their most recent appearance in 2016. Their 45 wins at the London major are their most at any Slam.
The Williams sisters are two-time US Open champions, with 25 match wins in New York. They also won Olympic gold three times in women's doubles.
While their Wimbledon reunion will be Serena's first Grand Slam action since the 2022 US Open, Venus recently competed in both singles and doubles at the 2025 US Open and 2026 Australian Open. Last summer, the 45-year-old reached the New York women's doubles quarterfinals alongside 2021 singles finalist Leylah Fernandez.
Speaking last month at Roland Garros, where she was set to play doubles with Hailey Baptiste before the 24-year-old pulled out with a knee injury, Venus said she was "not worried" about Serena's layoff.
"What I will tell you is she will not hit for four months then grab her racquet and come out and hit a ton out of the ball," Venus said.
"It's incredible. The quality of her stroke is obviously there. She is a natural. She is very tenacious."
The Wimbledon main draw begins on Monday, June 29.
