Labubus have made their main draw debut at the 2025 US Open. They've been spotted around the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, making appearances everywhere from Louis Armstrong Stadium to the star-studded blue carpet.
Perhaps the most famous Labubus to hit the court at the US Open are two-time champion and No. 23 seed Naomi Osaka's team of tiny tennis racquet-wielding monsters, "Billie Jean Bling," "Arthur Flash," "LaBillieBoo," and "Althea Glitterson." Most have matched her custom kits, and LaBillieBoo was made to look like Billie Jean King, even sporting a pair of her signature chunky glasses.
"Honestly, I'm not a Labubu collector," Osaka said in her press conference after defeating Hailey Baptiste in the second round. "This is kind of like a one-time thing for the tournament. Honestly, it kind of started as a joke, so I'm glad people are liking it."
After her first-round win, Osaka joked that one of the highlights of the match was showing off Billie Jean Bling.
"I was not expecting everyone to like Billie Jean Bling. I'm glad she made people laugh today," she said.
Now, fans eagerly await the introduction of a new member of her growing collection after her matches.
However, Osaka is not the only player in on the trend. A Labubu wearing a sweatband was spotted on Elena Rybakina's racquet bag during her match against Emma Raducanu, and Mirra Andreeva reportedly gave hers to coach Conchita Martinez, but was gifted another.
"It's so cute it's crazy," Andreeva said after opening up the box and discovering her "Green Grape" Labubu. "Finally, I'm one of those girls!"
2024 US Open junior boys' wheelchair singles champion Charlie Cooper, who is making his making his major debut in the men's draw, is also joining in on the fun. We spotted a blue Labubu with a racquet and a tennis ball hanging off his bag ahead of his men's wheelchair doubles match on Tuesday.
Celebrities also showed off their Labubus, bringing them onto the US Open's signature blue carpet. Shonda Rhimes carried one decked out in red attached to her purse on Sunday, and Elizabeth Banks introduced Stephen Colbert and his wife to her baby-blue Labubu dressed in a bow and a white dress, clutching a tennis racquet.
