On Monday of junior action the Americans won big at the 2025 US Open. The junior doubles tournament also kicked off today and a few of the all-American teams got in on the winning action.
Top American girls Julieta Pareja and Kristina Penickova continued their quest for the US Open junior title, defeating their respective opponents Nadia Lagaev and Maia Ilinca Burcescu in straight sets.
Other American winners included wildcards Nancy Lee who got the speedy, straight sets win over Sonja Zhenikhova and Welles Newman who came back to beat Kali Supova in three sets. Janae Preston was also able to grab the win over Nauhany Vitoria Leme Da Silva.
In boy's singles, junior Wimbledon champion American Ronit Karki kicked off his 2025 US Open campaign today with a straight sets win over Ziga Sesko 6-3, 7-6(4). Americans Gavin Goode, Simon Caldwell and Maxwell Exsted were victorious in their Round 1 matches today and Maximus Dussault got through his second round match in three tight sets.
For boy's singles upsets, Hidde Schoenmakers and Luis Guto Miguel respectively upset the No.4 seed American Benjamin Willwerth in three sets and No. 7 seed Niels McDonald.
In girl's doubles No.1 seeds Hannah Klugman and Mia Pohankova won their opening match over Daphnee Mpetshi Perricard and Eugenia Zozaya Menendez 6-3, 6-4.
For the all-American wildcard duo Emery Combs and Olivia De Los Reyes, they managed to squeak out a tight win over compatriot Kori Montoya and Serbian Lana Virc in a match tiebreak. No. 6 seeds Thea Frodin and her partner Victoria Luiza Barros got through a competitive straight sets win 7-5, 6-4.
All-American No.6 seed Jack Kennedy and Keaton Hance got through a tight match against Ludvig Hede and Hidde Schoenmakers, winning that battle in a match tiebreak. Fellow Americans Michael Antonius and Matisse Farzam also needed a match tiebreak to earn their Round 1 win against Maxwell Exsted and Jan Kumstat.
Another upset on the junior boy’s side came in doubles where Cruz Hewitt and his partner Canadian Nicolas Arseneault swiftly took out the No.8 seeds Nikita Bilozertsev and Ziga Sesko.
