A dazzling collection of tennis stars past and present, plus soccer superstar Alex Morgan, lit up Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday night for Stars of the Open presented by Chase.
The hit-and-giggle gave the athletes a chance to put their tennis skills and their personalities on display, with everyone mic'd up for their entertaining doubles tiebreaks on the US Open's center stage. The evening's matchups included Coco Gauff and Andre Agassi vs. Venus Williams and John McEnroe; Joao Fonseca and Juan Martin Del Potro vs. Andy Roddick and Alex Michelsen; Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils vs. Flavia Pennetta and Flavio Cobolli; and Dana Mathewson and Jack Sock vs. Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Casey Ratzlaff.
A portion of the ticket proceeds will support the USTA Foundation, the national charitable arm of the USTA, which provides tennis and educational programs to under-resourced communities.
Morgan, a two-time World Cup winner with the United States, briefly took Agassi's place alongside Gauff and showed off her tennis skills by getting the better of Williams and McEnroe.
In the evening's finale, Mathewson and Sock took on Mattek-Sands and Ratzlaff in a popcorn match that featured a tweener and a smash from 2018 US Open men's doubles champ Sock in the same breathtaking point. Mathewson and Ratzlaff will both be competing in the 2025 US Open Wheelchair Championships presented by Deloitte, with the event doubling as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of wheelchair tennis at the US Open.
