One year after they won the Mixed Madness exhibition event and competed together in mixed doubles at the 2024 US Open, Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas have their sights set on a Grand Slam title at the reimagined 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship.
A tennis power couple since they began dating in 2023, "Tsitsidosa" thrilled the New York crowds last summer with their blend of playful chemistry and high-level shotmaking. As part of a blockbuster 2025 mixed doubles entry list full of singles stars, the Greek-Spanish pair now hopes to take their on-court relationship to the next level by winning major silverware at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
“I believe it’s honestly one of the best feelings to be sharing the court with Paula,” Tsitsipas said, looking ahead to another potential New York outing. “I’ve had a few instances where we played some mixed doubles and it worked out pretty well. We were able to enjoy the company of one another on the tennis court and make something great out of it.”
After beating Taylor Fritz (who entered the 2025 mixed doubles event with Elena Rybakina) and Amanda Anisimova in the Mixed Madness final last year, Badosa and Tsitsipas made their Grand Slam debut as a pair in the New York mixed doubles tournament but lost to Giuliana Olmos and Santiago Gonzalez in the first round. They'll hope to produce more magic together in Arthur Ashe Stadium this summer.
“It’s probably one of the coolest date nights that I could have asked for,” Tsitsipas said after their Mixed Madness victory.
The Greek also has two ATP tour doubles titles to go along with his 12 on the singles court, while Spain's Badosa owns a 26-24 women's doubles record as a pro.
A former singles world No. 3, Tsitsipas is currently just outside the Top 25. Apart from his Dubai title in March, he has endured a difficult first half of the 2025 season and is now working with Goran Ivanisevic, Novak Djokovic's former coach, in a bid to rediscover his top form.
Badosa, who hit a career high of world No. 2 in 2022, was named the WTA's Comeback Player of the Year last season after missing the second half of 2023 with a stress fracture in her back. She is now back inside the Top 10 at world No. 9.
In addition to their singles success, a lively social media presence has also helped Badosa and Tsitsipas gain fans around the world. The pair often share glimpses of their off-court life with their millions of followers, including a recent post showing them choose between famous foods from Greece and Spain: "Two countries, one couple, endless delicious decisions," wrote Tsitsipas.
No doubt they will enjoy some fine meals together this summer in New York—but it will be all business when they join together to chase what would be a first major trophy for both.
