On Saturday night, No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka triumphed over American No. 6 seed Jessica Pegula in Arthur Ashe Stadium, 7-5, 7-5.
Sabalenka, the 2023 finalist in Queens, is now a three-time Grand Slam champion, and is the first woman to win both hard-court majors in the same season since Angelique Kerber in 2016.
The newly-crowned Queen of Queens, who has a significant social media presence herself, was celebrated on social media for all of her success. Among them were friends and tennis players on the WTA and ATP tours, including 2022 US Open champions Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz, three-time US Open runner-up Victoria Azarenka, 2022 finalist Ons Jabeur, 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu and best friend and US Open quarterfinalist Paula Badosa.
Billie Jean King herself was on hand to present the trophy to the champion, 50 years after she won her final US Open title. She celebrated Sabalenka's win, as did four-time US Open champion, Martina Navratilova, 2003 champion Andy Roddick, and other tennis Hall of Famers including Boris Becker and Pam Shriver.
And of course, the Slams themselves showered praise on Sabalenka for her indominitable spirit and her dominance at the US Open and beyond.
