On Sunday night, No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka played No. 33 seed Elise Mertens in Louis Armstrong Stadium, winning the match 6-2, 6-4, to secure her spot in the quarterfinals of the 2024 US Open, the fourth time she has reached the final eight in Queens.
