Tommy Paul worked late to beat Lorenzo Sonego in a 2024 US Open first-round match that went deep into the New York night on Day 2. After Paul looked on course for a straight-sets cruise in Louis Armstrong Stadium, Sonego found his rhythm to come from behind in set three.
Paul ultimately prevailed, 6-4, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, to snap Winston-Salem champ Sonego's four-match winning streak.
