There is always something spectacular happening at the US Open, and the Friday night of Fan Week is no exception. On Friday, Aug. 23, New York City DJ D-Nice will headline the first-ever US Open Block Party, a new, free nighttime festival style celebration.
The party takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center’s Fountain Plaza and will feature music, player appearances and much more. The dance party begins at 8 p.m. and will kick off with DJ Millie followed by a performance by D-Nice. The Block Party will be hosted by Z100’s Crystal and Maxwell.
Derrick “D-Nice” Jones is more than just a DJ—he’s also a celebrated fine artist and photographer who has moved millions through his work on wax, on stage and in his revolutionary virtual “Club Quarantine.” He has rocked stages like the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall and the Apollo Theater with “Club Quarantine Live,” and produced “CQ After Dark” in partnership with Essence Festival.
DJ Millie is an LA-based DJ and model who has headlined in Las Vegas, and has performed at music festivals like Lollapalooza among many others. In her spare time, DJ Millie hosts a live show titled Millie Monday where she DJ's and has interviewed the likes of Kiana Lede, 6lack, D-Nice, Ne-Yo and more. DJ Millie has always felt a deep connection to music, and she shares that with her followers and the innumerable others who watch her sets.
The Block Party is free, but requires a ticket to gain access to the site. Tickets for the free event are available through Ticketmaster starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“We are excited for fans to experience the US Open Block Party as we continue to expand US Open Fan Week,” said Nicole Kankam, USTA Managing Director, Pro Tennis Marketing and Entertainment. “The US Open has an incredible tradition of bringing music and entertainment to the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and D-Nice will surely put on a show that the community will enjoy.”
