Jannik Sinner was selected by both players and fans as the winner of two honors in the 2023 ATP Awards, while his coaches—Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi—were chosen by their peers to share the Coach of the Year award.
The 22-year-old Italian was named Most Improved Player of the Year and received the Fans’ Favorite Award, with his fellow players voting in the former category.
The distinctions recognize a breakout season for Sinner: After beginning the season as world No. 15, Sinner reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon, won his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title in Toronto, advanced to the ATP Finals title match in his Turin debut, and led Italy to the Davis Cup title.
Sinner finished the season at a career-high of world No. 4, becoming the first Italian man to end a season in the Top 5.
In the two honors decided by the ATP rankings, Novak Djokovic was feted as year-end World No. 1 while the doubles duo of Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig earned doubles No. 1 plaudits.
Other categories voted by ATP Tour players included Comeback Player of the Year (Jan-Lennard Struff), Newcomer of the year (Arthur Fils) and the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award (Carlos Alcaraz).
The ATP awarded Felix Auger-Aliassime the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award, while fans selected Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev for the Fans' Favorite Award in doubles.
In addition to selecting Cahill and Vagnozzi for the Coach of the Year Award, ATP coaches also voted Jose Higueras as the recipient of the Tim Gullikson Career Coach Award.
