US Open fans will be moving and grooving to the sounds of Sebastián Yatra on Friday, Aug. 25, as the 28-year-old Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and bilingual composer is the headlining act for this year's Sounds of the Open presented by Chase.
Sounds of the Open presented by Chase, an annual concert that turns the Open's grounds into a rocking musical venue, is one of the signature events of US Open Fan Week, which this year will be held from Aug. 22 through Aug. 27, just prior to the start of the 2023 US Open main draw on Aug. 28. It is the penultimate event of this year's Fan Week, which consists of six days of amazing tennis, star-studded events and activities for all—with most free to the public—in the lead-up to the final Grand Slam tournament of the year.
Admission to Sounds of the Open presented by Chase is free, but tickets are required for entry to the grounds. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster on a first-come, first-serve basis. Click here to secure tickets to Sounds of the Open presented by Chase.
UPDATE (8/9/23): This event is now at capacity. Reserved tickets for the Chase Sound Check are sold out.
The 28-year-old Yatra, born in Medellin, Colombia but raised in Miami, is a winner of two Latin Grammy Awards: for his multi-platinum album “Dharma”; and his song “Dos Oruguitas,” from Disney's Oscar-winning film "Encanto." He has twice been nominated in the category of "Best Latin Pop Album" at the Grammy Awards.
Last year, Yatra's 78-date Dharma World Tour sold out multiple dates across Spain and the Americas, and this year, his summer smash-single "Vagabundo" has gone platinum in the U.S., double-platinum in Spain, and boasts more than 200 million streams to date. Yatra’s first release of 2023, “Una Noche Sin Pensar,” reached No. 1 in Latin Pop Airplay.
Off the mic, the singer's US Open debut is fitting: He is a devoted tennis fan, and has close personal relationships with 2022 champion Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, among others.
The grounds will open to Sounds of the Open ticketholders at 6 p.m. on Aug. 25, with Yatra expected to take the stage at 8 p.m.
The pre-show festivities will be hosted by popular afternoon radio hosts Maxwell and Crystal of iHeartMedia New York’s Z100, New York City’s number-one hit music station, and also will feature DJ Citizen Jane. DJ Citizen Jane is a Cuban born, Miami-based DJ who is known for her unique blend of EDM, Mixed Top 40, and Electropop, creating a vibrant and infectious atmosphere at every performance.
