Naomi Osaka is officially a mom. The two-time US Open champion announced the birth of her daughter in a social media post Thursday.
"Well that was a cool little intermission, now back to your regularly scheduled program," Osaka wrote on Twitter to accompanying a photo of her baby, wearing an appropriately tennis-themed onesie, in her lap.
She posted more photos on Instagram, which included a photo of her in the late stages of pregnancy, and a selfie from a hospital bed.
Osaka, 25, announced her pregnancy in January, and last month, revealed that she and her longtime boyfriend, American rapper Cordae, were expecting a girl. The baby's name has yet to be officially confirmed.
In her pregnancy announcement, Osaka also affirmed that she's eyeing a comeback next season, and that she has ambitious goals for her return to the sport. A two-time US Open champion in 2018 and 2020, Osaka played her last WTA tournament to date in Tokyo in September.
"Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023," Osaka wrote on Instagram just prior to the Australian Open to accompany a sonogram photo.
"These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I've dedicated my life to. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future; one thing I'm looking forward to is for my kid to watch some of my matches and tell someone, 'That's my mom.'
"2023 will be a year that'll be full of lessons for me, and I hope I'll see you guys at the start of of the next one 'cause I'll be at Aus 2024."
