Get an inside look at the high stakes, rich personalities and compelling storylines of professional tennis on 'Break Point,' the first-of-its-kind tennis documentary now on Netlfix.
Produced by the team behind 'Formula 1: Drive to Survive,' the first five episodes of the series follow the first five-and-a-half months of the 2022 season. Bookended by the Australian Open and Roland Garros, the opening salvo also includes behind-the-scenes glimpses of two of the sport's other biggest events, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and the Mutua Madrid Open.
Among other storylines, the first five episodes spotlight Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis' run through their home Grand Slam tournament in the premiere episode; California's Taylor Fritz's coronation on home soil in episode three; and the different pressures Paula Badosa and Ons Jabeur faced when they arrived in the Spanish capital to compete in Madrid in episode four.
While forehands, backhands, volleys and serves are at the show's forefront, 'Break Point' showrunner Kari Lia told the ATP Tour website that the 10-episode season offers an honest assessment into the participants' psyches, a never-before-seen look into what makes them tick.
The rest of the episodes will drop later this year.
“It’s so much of a mind game,” Lia said. “I hadn’t really appreciated that. The difference between who wins and who loses is so often about what’s going on in their minds. I found that fascinating.
“When you watch the show, we really explore that—what’s going on mentally.”
