Cake by the ocean? Try dance-rock at the tennis. DNCE, the award-winning band fronted by Joe Jonas, will perform a free concert during US Open Fan Week on Friday, Aug. 26. Fans can reserve their free tickets now at Ticketmaster.
UPDATE (8/9/22): This event is now at capacity. Reserved tickets for the Chase Sound Check are sold out.
DNCE's house-rocking beats herald the return of the Chase Sound Check to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the first time in three years, just one of many free activities that fans can enjoy during US Open Fan Week beginning Aug. 23.
The Chase Sound Check at the US Open previously featured performances from popular indie rock band LANY and Grammy Award-winning singer Leon Bridges. The concert series initially launched in New York City in 2017 and has since expanded to several major cities and events around the country, including Los Angeles and Chicago, in 2022. Chase customers will have access to an elevated viewing area for DNCE's Chase Sound Check performance.
"We’re excited to partner with the USTA and return to the US Open, bringing fans closer to the music they love," said Frank Nakano, Head of JPMorgan Chase's Sports and Entertainment Marketing group. “As fans continue to return to live concerts and sporting events, we look forward to creating premium experiences for Chase cardholders and attendees through our Chase Sound Check platform and other leading properties in the world of sports and entertainment.”
Also featuring Jack Lawless on drums and JinJoo Lee on guitar, DNCE shook-up popular music and culture with the release of their RIAA quintuple-platinum certified single “Cake By The Ocean” in 2016. The song soared up the charts, and permeated pop culture at large from the airwaves to TVs and social media. A staple in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, it emerged as “one of the most-played songs of the year at Top 40 radio.”
Achieving global consumption of 10 million-plus units and 3.2 billion streams, “Cake By The Ocean” went triple-platinum in Australia and Sweden; double-platinum in Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Poland and Spain; and platinum in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Portugal. DNCE's self-titled, full-length debut album followed later that year, and was certified gold.
They're ready for more in 2022, as this year's marked the band's triumphant return to music. Teasing a comeback on a collaboration with Kygo for the unshakable and undeniable anthem “Dancing Feet,” DNCE unleashed its first official single in four years, titled “Move,” in May. Billboard applauded “Move” as a “dance party-perfect single,” and People summed it up best as “infectious.”
To date, the band has tallied 5 billion global streams and 3.5 million global album equivalents, and their inimitable and intoxicating hybrid of rock, pop, dance, and funk like no other is ready to command the stage at America's Grand Slam.
