Watch on YouTube: Rafael Nadal vs. Kevin Anderson, 2017 US Open men's singles final
In winning his third US Open title, Rafael Nadal put on a serving clinic against one of the greatest servers in the game. Matched up against surprise finalist Kevin Anderson—who started the 2017 tournament with 55 consecutive service holds—Nadal dropped just 15 points on serve and did not face a break point in the championship match.
On the return, Rafa was dialed in from the start, routinely dragging the South African into lengthy rallies. He would end the match with four breaks of serve, a prime example of an all-time great raising his game on the biggest stage.
Anderson, seeded No. 28, took advantage of a wide-open bottom half of the men's draw to reach his first Grand Slam final. He powered past No. 17 seed Sam Querrey (quarters) and No. 12 seed Pablo Carreno Busta (semis), both in four sets, before meeting his match against world No. 1 Nadal in the final.
