Men's Final: Rafael Nadal vs. Daniil Medvedev
4 p.m. ET, in Arthur Ashe Stadium
- Nadal goes for his fourth US Open men's singles title and 19th Grand Slam, while Medvedev is competing in his first major final.
- The Spaniard has dropped just one set on his run to his fifth US Open final, against Marin Cilic in the Round of 16. He's raised his level throughout the fortnight, topping Diego Schwartzman and Matteo Berrettini in straights the last two rounds. Medvedev will be the first Top-20 opponent he faces in the tournament.
- Medvedev has taken the scenic route to the final Sunday, in more ways than one. He went four sets in four consecutive matches, bookended by straight-sets wins in Round 1 and in the semifinals against Grigor Dimitrov. But he's only faced one seeded opponnet thus far: Stan Wawrinka in the Round of 16.
- This will be the second career meeting between the finalists, with both coming in the space of a month. Nadal dominated their first encounter, the Rogers Cup final, 6-3, 6-0.
