Rising 17-year-old American Amanda Anisimova withdrew from the 2019 US Open on Tuesday, following the passing of her father and coach, Konstantin Anisimov.
The USTA and US Open have issued the following statement:
"The USTA and US Open send our deepest condolences to Amanda Anisimova on the passing of her father, Konstantin. Our sincere sympathies go out to Amanda and her family, and we pray that the love and support of Amanda's many friends and extended family in tennis will help to comfort her in this most difficult time."
Anisimova was the 2017 US Open girls' singles champion at age 15, defeating compatriot Coco Gauff in the final.
Currently ranked world No.24 by the WTA, Anisimova reached her first Grand Slam semifinal earlier this year at the French Open, dethroning defending champion Simona Halep along the way.
With the American's withdrawal, current WTA world No.33 Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine moves into the Top 32 seeds, and the open place in the main draw will be filled by a lucky loser at the conclusion of this week's US Open Qualifying Tournament.
