On Sept. 8, 2007, Justine Henin defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-1, 6-3, in the women's singles final, making her the first player to defeat three former US Open champions en route to the title since Serena Williams in 1999. In addititon to 2014 titlist Kuznetsova, Henin knocked off then-two-time champ Serena in the quarters and two-time winner Venus Williams in the semis.
The Belgian also became the first player since Serena in 2002 to win the title without dropping a set and the 10th woman in the Open era to win multiple US Open women’s singles championships. Henin also won the women's crown in 2003.
