Lilia Osterloh Returns to Ohio
Lilia Osterloh with a former high ranking of 41 on the WTA has returned to compete in Cincinnati with partner Josh Osswald, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. After encouragement from friends at the 2011 US Open, Osswald asked Osterloh to enter the mixed doubles events, "I bugged her for a couple months." The hitting partners met in California at the Riviera Country Club. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Osterloh is currently taking classes at Stanford.
Wildcats Go Rogue
Three teammates from Northwestern have made the road trip to Cincinnati. Spencer Wolf, Raleigh Smith, and Alexandru Pasareanu travelled together to compete in this year’s event. Smith and Pasareanu have advanced to the men’s singles quarterfinals.
Fifteen-Year-Old Plays for Experience
Sharon Danquah from Liberty Township, Ohio recently celebrated her fifteenth birthday. After watching Sharapova, Federer, and Bartoli play at the Western and Southern event, Danquah is excited to be playing at the same venue. "I like competing, making your own decisions, controlling the court and outthinking the other player."

The US Open National Playoffs presented by playtennis.com is in its third year as a series of sectional qualifying tournaments, held in 13 of the 17 USTA Sections throughout the country. The champions from each sectional qualifying tournament will advance to the US Open National Playoffs – Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles and Mixed Doubles Championship. The US Open National Playoffs – Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles Championship will be held August 17-20. The US Open National Playoffs – Mixed Doubles Championship will be held August 22-25.
