One day after upsetting the defending champions, Eric Roberson and Yasmin Schnack kept rolling in the quarterfinals, defeating Meghan Kelley and Daniel Quiceno, 6-3, 6-2, to advance at the US Open National Playoffs Mixed Doubles Championship in New Haven, Conn.
In the semifinals, Roberson and Schnack will face Kaitlyn Christian and Dante Cipulli, who defeated John Mee and Karina Traxler, 6-3, 6-4. Joining them in the semis were former Princeton teammates Lindsay Graff and Matija Pecotic, who also won for the second straight day, this time defeating Tarakaa Bertrand and Sam Sweeney, 6-2, 6-2.
Graff and Pecotic, the USTA Middle States champions, will next face the USTA Mid-Atlantic champions Matt Brooklyn and Stephanie Wetmore, who cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Southern champs Whitney McCray and Danie van den Heever.
The US Open National Playoffs Mixed Doubles Championship is taking place Aug. 21-24 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale in New Haven, Conn., in conjunction with the New Haven Open at Yale, an Emirates Airline US Open Series event. The winners receive a wild card into the 2013 US Open mixed doubles draw.
