After winning two highly competitive tournaments just to earn a wild card into the qualifying draw of the US Open, this year’s US Open National Playoffs winners, Sanam Singh and Caitlin Whoriskey, recorded opening round qualifying victories over higher-ranked opponents.

Cako and Kielbowicz win US Open National Playoffs


Former college stars Jacqueline Cako and Joel Kielbowicz won the US Open National Playoffs – Mixed Doubles Championship, claiming the title, 6-3, 6-1, over the sibling duo of Ena and Shuhei Shibahara. With the victory, Cako and Kielbowicz secured a wild card into the main draw of the mixed doubles event at the 2014 US Open.

Whoriskey, Singh claim National Playoffs singles titles


Caitlin Whoriskey and Sanam Singh earned wild cards into the US Open Qualifying Tournament by winning competitive singles finals in the US Open National Playoffs. Unseeded Caitlin Whoriskey prevailed over 15-year-old Michaela Gordon, while No. 1 seed Sanam Singh beat No. 2 seed and defending champion Jeff Dadamo.
