We're looking for energetic tennis fans ages 14 and over to be a vital part of the action at our Grand Slam event as an official US Open ballperson! Below you will find the important details concerning the tryout and what to expect if selected for duty at the 2013 US Open.

Wounded Warrior Angelo Anderson survived a firefight in Afghanistan three years ago, emerging from a war zone with a shattered femur and a Purple Heart. Now back on his feet, this American hero is determined to become a ballperson at 2013 US Open.

For a group of applicants applying for a position defined by stoicism and the ability to remain  invisible, the 2013 US Open Ballperson Tryouts on a gorgeous Thursday afternoon brought out some eye-catching candidates to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

2013 Event Information

WHAT: Approximately 80 sought-after positions as ballpersons for the 2013 US Open are up for grabs with more than 400 people competing for spots. Prospective ballpersons will be evaluated by US Open officials on their running, throwing and catching skills.

General Public Open Tryouts - 3:00 p.m. registration
Registration line for the general public begins forming at 3:00 p.m. Evaluation process will begin at approximately 4 p.m., after a welcome by US Open Ballperson Director Tina Taps.

- US Open ballpersons are paid an hourly wage.
 
- Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter of the US Open ballpersons.
 
- The 2013 US Open qualifying draw will be held Tuesday, August 20, through Friday, August 23.  The 2013 US Open main draw will be held Monday, August 26, through Monday, September 9.
