Work continuing on new Louis Armstrong Stadium

A rendering of the interior bowl of Louis Armstrong Stadium. The stadium will also feature a retractable roof.

Construction resumed on the new Louis Armstrong Stadium just days after the US Open crowned Rafael Nadal and Sloane Stephens its 2017 singles champions.

The pre-cast sections which make up the seating bowl have been arriving over the past month, and the stadium continues to take shape with every nut and bolt that is tightened.

The stadium, which will join Arthur Ashe Stadium as the second court at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center with a retractable roof, is scheduled to open for the 2018 US Open.

Here's a look at updated renderings of how the stadium will look when it opens its doors to the public in August.
