Day one action at the Arlington Tennis Center saw San Antonio native Oleksandr Kotsiuk upset Juan Moreiras 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 64. Moreiras was the San Antonio high schooler that represented Texas in the US Open Playoffs last year. Moreiras battled and eventually lost 6-4, 6-2 to No. 2 seeded David Martin, a longtime pro who has participated in the US Open men’s doubles every year since 2007. Read More

USTA unveils strategic vision for home of the US Open

The USTA, along with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Queens officials today announced a new strategic vision for the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, a vision which includes a series of construction projects designed to enhance the US Open and its fan and player experience. Heading up that slate of proposed improvements are the rebuilding of Louis Armstrong Stadium and the building of a new Grandstand Stadium in the southwest corner of the property. Read More

The US Open Playoffs is open to anyone 14 years old and up -- so naturally I've drawn a 14 year old in the first round. A 14 year old who plays a lot of junior competitive tournaments, according to the research I've done on TennisLink. That's not good. For me. I'm more than three times this kids age.
