The women’s singles winners or top available finishers from each of the 13 US Open National Playoffs Sectional Qualifying Tournaments advanced to the US Open National Playoffs – Women’s Singles Championship, held Aug. 15-18 in New Haven, Conn., in conjunction with the Connecticut Open, the final Emirates Airline US Open Series event of the season.
The winner of the Women’s Championship earned a wild card into the 2014 US Open Qualifying Tournament, held Aug. 19-22 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open.
Unseeded Caitlin Whoriskey was the winner of this 2014 US Open National Playoffs - Women's Singles Championship. She won her opening-round qualifying match at the 2014 US Open, joining Mayo Hibi as the only other National Playoffs women's singles winner to achieve this feat.
