Redfoo competes but Ball, Olmos win NorCal singles

Giuliana Olmos of Fremont won the women's singles for the 2nd straight year.
Andrew Ball of Palo Alto took the men's singles title without dropping a set.
Eric Roberson and Yasmin Schnack advance again to the US Open National Playoff.
The US Open National Playoffs returned for a fourth year to Chamisal Tennis and Fitness Club in Salinas, California. One of a series of 13 sectional qualifying tournaments, the US Open National Playoffs gives players age 14 and older an opportunity to play their way into the US Open.
 
This year was an exciting year for Chamisal Tennis Club as Redfoo from the band LMFAO entered the tournament in both singles and mixed doubles. On Wednesday, June 19, hundreds of people came to watch Redfoo.
 
Andrew Ball of Palo Alto, Calif., won the men’s singles without losing a set. Ball defeated Josh Pompan of Salina, Calif., in the final, 6-3, 6-1. Nikhil Jayashankar from Saratoga came the closest to taking a set in the quarterfinal match, 7-6(6), 6-2.
 
Giuliana Olmos of Fremont, Calif., defeated Lejla Hodzic of Santa Clara, Calif., in the women's final, 6-1, 6-4, to win the Northern California sectional qualifying  tournament for the second year in a row.
 
Yasmin Schnack and Eric Roberson won the mixed doubles event and will have another chance to compete for the wild card entry to compete in the 2013 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship. In 2011 they just missed winning wild card entry, falling in the final of the Mixed Doubles Championship final to Christina Fusano and David Martin, 2-6, 6-1, [10-5].
 
The winners now go on to compete in the US Open National Playoffs - Championships at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., during the New Haven Open at Yale.
 
The winner of each US Open National Playoffs Singles Championship (one male, one female) will receive a wild card entry to compete in the 2013 US Open Qualifying Tournament (August 20-23) and the winner of the US Open National Playoffs Mixed Doubles Championship (one team) will receive a wild card entry to compete in the 2013 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship (commencing August 28) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
