June 21, 2013 09:56 PM
Musician Redfoo is one of the thousands who have competed in the US Open National Playoffs since their debut in 2009.
Music sensation Redfoo of the group LMFAO brought some of his trademark "Party Rock" style to the 2013 US Open National Playoffs, competing in the Northern California sectional qualifying tournament in Salinas, Calif.

Playing under his given name, Stefan Gordy, he lost a close match in mixed doubles with his partner, Ayaka Okuno, falling to Shin Hayasaka, of San Jose, and Maya Kato, of Santa Clara, Calif., 6-2, 7-6(4). He also lost his singles match, 6-1, 6-2, to Scott Gray, 19, of Turlock, Calif.

Redfoo coaches Okuno. Okuno, 18, plays for the University of Georgia and recently competed in the junior French Open. She has so far advanced to the women's singles quarterfinals in Salinas.

Redfoo played competitively as a junior. He is frequent attendee at Grand Slam tournaments, and he also sponsored a USTA Pro Circuit event in Las vegas last year.
