The 2012 US Open National Playoffs will once again culminate with the US Open National Playoffs Championships. The US Open National Playoffs Championships are held for each division—
men’s singles,
women’s singles and
mixed doubles—and function as a single-elimination draw that features the top available finishers from each of the 13 sectional qualifying tournaments and decide who advances to the 2012 US Open.
For the second consecutive year, all three tournaments will be held in conjunction with the New Haven Open at Yale, presented by First Niagara, a US Open Series event. The US Open National Playoffs – Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles Championship will be held Aug. 17-20, with the winner advancing to the 2012 US Open Qualifying Tournament. The US Open National Playoffs – Mixed Doubles Championship will be held Aug. 22-25, with the winners advancing to the main draw of the 2012 US Open mixed doubles event.
Former University of Arkansas All-American Blake Strode has captured each of the two US Open National Playoffs men’s singles titles, while the women’s winners were USTA Pro Circuit standout Alexandra Mueller (2010) and UCLA freshman Robin Anderson (2011). Veteran doubles standouts Christina Fusano and David Martin captured the inaugural mixed doubles title in 2011.
